Integration of Gender Equality Perspective in Political Negotiations on Future of
Dear President Barosso,
We are urging you to use the available mechanisms, in accordance with the Plan for Implementation of the UN Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 1820, and prevent exclusion of women from the negotiations on establishing government in
We are reminding you that the Article 18 of the Plan for Implementation of the UN Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 1820 includes following:
"The EU will use a three-pronged approach to protect, support and empower women in conflict related situations and in long-term development cooperation, with the aim of achieving gender equality. Firstly, the EU will integrate women, peace and security issues in its political and policy dialogue with partner governments, particularly of countries affected by armed conflict, in post conflict situations or situations of fragility. Secondly, the EU will mainstream a gender equality approach in its policies and activities, especially in the context of crisis management and in its long-term development cooperation. Thirdly, the EU will support specific strategic actions (for example through the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights or the Instrument for Stability, see Annex) targeted at protecting, supporting and empowering women. The EU also recognizes that in order to improve the status of women and promote gender equality, more attention should be paid to how men are involved in the process and the positive impact of gender equality for men and for the well-being of society as a whole."

Protest gathering of BiH Women’s Network![]() Women’s organizations from entire BiH organize today the protest gathering due to not forming the executive authority at the state level and continuous ignorance of the Law on Gender Equality in BiH. 13 months after the general elections in BiH, we still have no the executive authority. The Council of ministers in technical mandate did not adopt neither the program of work nor the budget for 2011 but it did not distract the members of the Council of Ministers to receive their salaries on a regular basis. According to the Centre of Civil Initiatives calculation, the BiH Council of Ministers in technical mandate cost the citizens 570.000 KM! There has been a year and a half since the adoption of changes and amendments of the Law on Gender Equality (“Official Gazette of BiH”, number 32/10) which clearly prescribe the commitment of the state bodies at all levels of the authority organization and the bodies of the local self-management to ensure the representation of 40% of one of the genders in management, decision-making and representation. Unfortunately, there is still a long way to go to under the law 40% of women representation in decision-making and management bodies. There are no women in negotiations on constitutional changes although two years ago we asked from BiH political leaders and representatives of the international community to include women into negotiation process. Because of all this, women’s organization grouped into the BiH Women’s Network ask from legitimately elected women and men representatives of political parties to get on work at last and stop damaging the men and women citizens of this country due to their party and personal interests. The protest gathering marks at the same time the start of the 16 Days of Activism campaign against Women Violence that takes place from 25 November – International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women till 10 December – Human Rights Day. “16 Days of Activism” campaign started Banjaluka 24 November 2011United Women and Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly have officially announced the start of the 16 Days of Activism campaign against gender - based violence at a today’s press conference. TheCampaign takes place every year starting from 25 November – the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women till 10 December – Human Rights Day. Amela Bašić Tomić, coordinator of the Safe House for women and children victims of violence in Banjaluka reminded that the Safe House in Banjaluka was open in 2007 having provided accommodation for 157 women and 177 children by now, victims of gender - based violence. Except the Safe House in Banjaluka, there are two safe houses in „It is only Banjaluka that has budget item to fund the work of the safe house”, stressed Bašić Tomić adding the problem of not having clear out-coming strategies for women victims of violence after leaving the safe house. According to her words, average age of women who were in the safe house is 36 years. Dalila Bojic from Centre for Social Work said that most often victims of family violence are women as wives, then ex-wives, common-law wives and mothers. Just during this year, SOS telephone line number 1264 recorded 1215 calls mainly from women, victims of family violence. 16 DANA AKTIVIZMA PROTIV RODNOG NASILJA 25. novembar – 10. decembar, 2011.There are no translations available. Proliferacija malog oružja i njegova uloga u nasilju u porodici 3. Seksualno nasilje u i nakon sukoba 4. Političko nasilje protiv žena, uključujući nasilje pred/tokom/nakon izbora 5. Seksualno i rodno zasnovano nasilje počinjeno od strane državnih organa, naročito policije i vojske Više o ovogodišnjoj Kampanji Kalendar ativnosti 2011 Resursni paket 2011 JAVNI POZIV ZA KONSULTANTSKE USLUGEThere are no translations available.
